I was reading Blue Like Jazz today when I came to an interesting paragraph. It sort of puts into words what Doug was trying to say about Greek thinking and apologetics and such.

“My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don’t really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don’t believe in God and they can prove He doesn’t exist, and some other guys who do believe in God and they can prove he does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it’s about who is smarter, and honestly I don’t care.” – Donald Miller

That comment struck me too when I read it.

that’s a great book. our burden should never be one of proving God is “there” and stuffing our spiritual experiences in a tidy, logical “box”. it should be about telling our story, admiting that we are just crazy enough to feel God moving along side of us in our story as he invites us to be part of his.

A strange game I just clicked on.. The story starts out like this:

One day, Minister Pumpkin betrayed King Broccoli. He kidnaped princess Tomato and stole the Turnip Emblem. He took them to his castle in the Zucchini Mountains.
    Screen Cap

Wierd. Also, while I’m at it, Sonic Mario? Is that legal?

Dude, Princess Tomato was one of the best games ever! It was like eating a salad while on acid. Umm… Not that I know what that's like or anything.

Tonight we rode our bikes to get gelato. I got chocolate cake & coconut. As I was riding, I remembered how much I love summer nights. Even though we rode in silence, my mind was flooded with memories. I’d forgotten the oasis at the end of the day. So many memories .. I feel like I’m the same person I’ve always been – I just sort of lost myself .. for a moment.

Well, John got straight A’s – so we went to go get ice cream. My mom used to do that because she thought it would inspire Thomas and I – But I think we pretty much were happy to have the ice cream. We pretty much banked on John always getting good grades – and he did!

    Good job John

I didn’t eat ice cream – I sat outside with Noah and the guy on the segway. How in the world did he get a segway to the A.J’s plaza? Did he bring it in his car? If so, why not just walk around like everyone else?

Ducktales NES .. played it again after 10 years.

Update: Craig just showed me a place where you can play old Nintendo games through your web browser. If you’d like to play Ducktales right now, click here.

      You need java.

Thanks a lot David – jerk. Now I’ll never get any work done. Unless rescuing hostages from the clutches of evil in Choplifter is work.

      I mean
you need (to delete all your old versions of) Java (and reinstall JDK1.5).
I know that’s an “IT” solution, but hey, sometimes IT gets it right. Ok, IT usually gets it right after four weeks of watching task bars and sitting on their hands – by that time you’ve done the thirty minutes of googling required to fix it. What a job.

Isn’t that cool though Kyle? An NES emulator purely in Java. Fun stuff.

I still couldn’t figure it out, but I haven’t had much time to devote to it, so maybe one day when I have more time I’ll get it down. Thanks for the help I am just computer illiterate.

I was looking at a photo of Noah, my brother’s kid. I realized something. It is a sort of blurry photo with all of us talking, laughing, living and such. He won’t remember any of it. But some day he’ll wonder who the people in this photo are.

We are the blurry friends in his picture. When he’s twenty-something and he actually cares about pictures like this – We will be part of the captured moment he won’t remember.

So, I look at pictures of when I was a kid growing up – with all my parent’s friends in the background – blurry – talking, laughing, living and such. Captured moments I don’t remember.

Today is Mother’s Day. Here are the four mothers that came over to our house to eat. First (on the left), is Jamie’s sister Diana (2 kids). Next is my mom (3 kids). Then Thomas’ wife Malora (1 kid). Finally, on the right is Jamie’s mom (3 kids).

This is my nephew Alec. He was asked to eat some chicken, so that’s just what he did. Here is his huge plate of food. (I don’t think he even ate that one piece)

Finally, here is the Othello game I played against Haley. It was her first time playing using the rules.. and I was actually trying. I was white. You can count if you want to … that’s what she’s doing in this picture … I’ll beat her someday.

Craig just sent me an amazing article written by Phil Vischer (the creator of Veggie Tales). It explains the rise and fall of Big Idea Productions, the Jonah movie, bankruptcy – everything. His honesty in his writing is amazing. If you’ve ever wondered what really happened to Veggie Tales, you should read this article.

On his site, it’s broken up into a bunch of parts. I have compiled all the parts and made one huge article. Trust me, it will make it a lot easier to read.

    • Tanner 8:48 pm on May 6th Permalink | Log in to Reply

That took about an hour and a half to read. But I’m glad I read it. … to be continued on my blog.

Amazing…amazingly sad. I didn’t know any of that was going on, I have been educated. Makes me wonder how many decisions we make because we KNOW God must be behind our idea instead of seeking His face continually and learning His thoughts and desires for our endeavors. I feel immense sadness for Phil…I loved VeggieTales and I think the Lord will still use what Phil has introduced to the world. God uses us in spite of ourselves sometimes.

its an incredible article. so many lessons to learn from, some we already learned the same way phil did. it was really hard to read alot of it…like, it hurt. thanks for compiling it by the way. it was a pain clicking through twenty pages to read the whole thing.

Very interesting article. The behind the scenes info is very interesting. Sad… but Phil is still at work. Take a look at his personal site: http://philvischer.com/index.htm.

I found a neat picture weblog. I don’t know who it is because the whole thing is in Japanese. But it has neat pictures and she puts up a new image quite frequently. Just click on a few buttons and you’ll find hundreds of little images eventually…
