Strange New World
This is an actual conversation I found recorded somewhere on the web. It is teenage girls (I think) talking to each other in a forum. I can’t believe how strange the words they are using seem to me. Although it sort of makes sense it’s like reading a new language.
Kuri: yeh my days been ok haduni from 2 til 4 so that wasnt that bad really… am all good thanks huni…it was well windy in the city today at home it wasnt too bad though… mwaaaaaaaaaaaaahz

do you think this is the evolution of the american language? its not so much slang really, but a dialect of english that i can sort of understand but they speak fluently.

It’s maybe the de-evolution of language – bringing it back to grunts… or maybe you’re right – removing all the excess – trimming the fat – it is sort of a step forward.
