I found a cannister of film from a camera that got destroyed in the accident. Although the back of the camera was opened, many of the pictures developed okay. I like this one because it captures the day well… and it’s the last picture of my car I have

I’ve finally finished designing and making my first 24 hour clock. At the top of the clock is a full sun representing noon and at the bottom is a group of stars representing midnight. It is framed in chrome. I call it Sonipa Red Time. It’s real and it works!
Like a regular clock, the small hand shows you the hour and the large hand shows the minute. Only instead of only having 12 hours there are 24 displayed (left side is AM, right side is PM). You no longer have to be confined to seeing half of your day… You can click on the images to view a larger version.

holy cow thats awesome! i love everything about it…especially that it will confuse the crap out of little kids that are trying to learn to read the ‘normal’ clock.
-
David Mulhern
Yeah, I would recommend putting it in classrooms in elementary schools to begin with .. teachers will love something like this ..
-
Dave Allen
WOW! the chrome looks so real. Lightwave is awesome.
-
Rohn
That is sweet! I want one… but I want one with PM and AM added… it takes too much thought to remember which is which.
-
Dave Allen
no but really. You should patent your design Dave. Where did you get the movement? I want a wrist watch like this.
-
David Mulhern
Hey dave! I go my movement from a clock store in Wisconsin. It’s a converted military time movement. Converted in the sense that it had to be modified to use regular hands …. Modified in the sense that I jammed a screwdriver in it.

Since one of the ideas is to split strings not into words, but hopefully into phrases more semantically informative than the words they are made of, doing that better should mean better suggestions, and avoiding what essentially are word n-tuples should make for smaller data and slightly faster querying.

Well, since my last car was totaled after hitting that firetruck, I had to get a different one. I decided to get a Volvo because they are really safe.

The emblem on the front of the car is the symbol for “iron” which is supposed to convey strength and sturdiness. But it’s also the astrological symbol for Mars. Which is cool because I used to have a Saturn so at least now my car represents a planet closer to earth.
It has a special place to hold my giant bouncy ball while I’m driving. This way it doesn’t roll around and cause loud noises. That was extremely important in deciding which car to get.

That makes sense!

AND it’s because that’s what grandpa always drove

Rohn
Very nice. Stylen and profilen! What model is it?
-
David Mulhern
Hi Rohn! Oh yeah, it’s a silver S80 T6. I got it at dealer cost by going to an auction with a guy named Bruce. He was smoking a big cigar and he had on white tennis shoes and a green hat. He tought me lots of neat things about cars and was very nice.

Zach
David, you will love the volvo. I drove one for 3 years and loved it very much.

Having a safe place for your “ball\s” is very important. Good choice brother. If you get lonely w/o Jamie in the next few weeks remember Hyde and I only live 300 miles Southeast if you! And it would be a great way to test out the new ride way out in the booney’s.

The other day, while I was driving, I saw this guy playing the trumpet while driving. He even played it while making a left turn. It was really loud. But he was pretty good at it … seems a bit extreme however. I snapped this picture with my phone.

I took the ecological footprint quiz and learned this:

If it would take 6.2 for you…can you imagine what it would take to accommedate mom and I! I guessing 20-30 planets.

For a while, I’ve been searching of a satelite image of the north pole. Well, I found one at NASA. For some reason, I like this picture better than the other popular night satelite images of the world. I like seeing the world from this perspective… Click on the image for a large version.

That is a cool view of the world. It’s amazing how we light up the world at night…

I just finished my first clock design. It’s based on a Russian pocketwatch that Craig wants to get. It’s not a 24 hour clock because I still haven’t recieved that movement in the mail yet. This is my first practice clock… I call it “The Garrison Clock Zero”…

Well. Today they came. The giant bouncy balls from California. In the picture below, you can see one of them next to what I USED to consider a giant… see it there… sulking in the shadow of its replacement.

This ball is made of solid rubber bouncy ball material. It’s quite heavy. When I bounce it, people outside my office can hear it hit the floor through the walls.
Special thanks to Hana for helping us find them!

Hana
Hurray, you got them! And that one is marvelous – WOW! Congratulations, happy giant-bouncy-ball owner!

We couldna’ found it without your help!

When I look at my watch I want to see the whole day. At one glance I want to see:
- When I wake up
- When I go to work
- When I eat lunch
- When I come home
- When I eat dinner
- When I go to sleep
I want to see the whole day all at once. But for some reason most watches & clocks aren’t made that way. Oddly enough, they split the day in half! Some do not make this mistake, like this Russian watch:

Once I saw this I thought, “At Last!” But now I need a clock for my wall. To make it easier for people in the U.S., I thought, “What if the time was converted to AM/PM instead of military time?” Now that’s the way I want to see my day. If I make this clock, I’ll post a picture of it.
Update: I did make this clock. Click Here

Chris Reece
You make that clock, and i’ll definetly hang one on my wall!
